Weekly Reflections
Week 1: 22/2/2021
This week we worked on our pitch for this project, our Gantt charts, websites and gathered some primary research to gather data about our peer's opinions on our pitch. From this data I have found that my peers would prefer a clearly outlined story within my FMP. I plan to implement this through the use of visual storytelling. And possibly translated subtitles between the interacting characters. But I will decide the specifics during the pre-production process.
Week 2: 05/3/2021
My main focus for this week was research and working on my pitch. The first half of this week i spent my time finalizing my Gantt chart and the pitch itself. And for the second half i turned to Nasa's website and their image gallery to gather some reference images for texturing planets in blender later down the line. I have gathered a collection of images for each planet in our solar system, our sun, and three other planets I have previous knowledge of: Kepler, Gliese, and Kapteyn B. I plan to use the images i have gathered for these other planets to texture the alien planets either on their own or as a starting point to develop from.
Week 3: 12/3/2021
This week my focus lied mainly in gathering and analysing research. I created mood boards of reference images in preparation for the practical aspect. They also serve as secondary research. In addition I spent some time further analysing my research from Nasa's website, and I created and analysed some cover art for this project.
Week 4: 19/3/2021
This week I done some experimental research and focussed on creating a procedural planet texture as practice for the practical aspect of this project. I then analysed this. I also analysed and evaluated my mood boards from last week.
Self evaluation of progress so far
Based off my work so far, i would give myself a MERIT grade. This is because i feel i have done some thorough research of various types and from various sources. This research has also assisted me in the development of my ideas. In order to reach a distinction grade, i plan to investigate further research sources and analyse these insightfully. I then plan to use this information to further develop my ideas and support the context surrounding my developments.
Week 5: 22/3/2021
My main focus for this week was Primary research. I started by sending messages to some industry professionals, and displaying my process on my primary research page. I also resent my survey to my piers, as the first link was not working. For the Friday of this week, I worked on creating an effective moon texture for experimental research and problem solving.
Easter holiday plans
It is now the Easter holiday, and i plan to complete as much of my research as i can within this time. Here is a list of the research i plan to complete within the break.

- Write about sending messages to industry professionals. (wait a bit for reply) DONE

- Download and play or watch gameplay of universe sandbox in order to study the graphics and animation which i will then write about after DONE

- Download and play solar smash on mobile in order to study the graphics and animation which i will also write about after DONE

- Try again to create a realistic looking earth using a different texture. Put this on WIX. DONE
Week 6: 12/4/2021
My focus this week was to work on my plan for this project. This week I made a list of the Add-Ons I need to use and collected a bunch of textures for me to use in my projects. I also started working on my storyboard using storyboarder
Week 7: 19/4/2021
This week my focus was to start creating some of the planet destruction scenes using the college computers. I started this week trying to make a scene where an asteroid hits a planet and creates a wave of destruction that circles the planet.
Week 8: 26/4/2021
This week was the beginning of the main practical aspect. I started with creating an asteroid flyby scene for the title sequence and then moved on to creating the scene with the monk elders surrounding the reactor and a close up scene of one of the monks.
Week 9: 3/5/2021
This week the college experienced a cyber attack and had to shut down all of the important systems. This means no access to computers. This is an issue. there is not much I could do this week other than show my production process so far on my wix website so this is what I've done.
Week 10: 10/5/2021
This week has gone well. I have access to a standalone computer in college that is powerful enough to run my blender files. As a result of this I am able to work on the practical aspect of my project this week.
Weeks 17/5/2021 and onwards
My focus is entirely on practical, my reflection during this process will be on the Production tab
